LIBRA – Mild to Profound learning disabilities

One of our newest service Libra opened on the 10th October 2016. This service was developed due to the demand for services for people with learning disability. It is based at the main Gateway Centre in the large room at the end of the building (map). The service started off with 6 service users 3 staff and 1 lead support. Some of the staff and service users agreed to move from their original day service within Gateway to accommodate the growth of the new service. Very quickly Libra was flourishing due to the dedication of the staff team and the great bond and vibe that they have with service users. The room has been revamped and now has a lovely warm and welcoming feel to it. Libra presently has 9 service users & 8 support staff. Service Users who attend Libra are assisted to access and engage in a vast amount of activities provided within a safe and supportive environment. We access activities based within our own centres, the local community and sometimes further afield on our accessible Minibus or using the Tram and Train. Service users are encouraged and motivated to take part in activities which are tailored to meet individual needs . and abilities by our dedicated and enthusiastic support team. Some of the activities we have taken part in at Libra are: Arts & Crafts Pond Dipping Museum visits Bikes4All Rebound Therapy Hydrotherapy Zumba Dance Sessions Relaxation Therapy Massage & Spa Knitting Sewing Sailing Fishing Sports4All Shopping trips Farm Visits Park Trips Reptile Visits Outings (e.g. Sealife, Zoo and Space) Fund raising events Gardening Projects Movie Time Board Games Sensory & Tactile Eyegaze
