Theme Thursdays
Theme Thursday is a social club which was developed through consultation and demand for social resources in the borough for 18+ years. The focus point is to engage adults who have learning disabilities and autism in social interactions through a stimulating themed activity which includes an appropriate meal for the night. The club runs every other Thursday and focuses on different themes which allows individuals to experiment across different genre such as games night, Disney night, karaoke night, competitions, games, singing, dancing, dressing-up. These themes allow individuals to express themselves in a safe environment, promote independence, social interaction, and enjoy a themed meal. Many successful nights have been requested to run again. Hawaiian night was fantastic, we had hula dancing, the limbo, individuals dressed to impress in snappy Hawaiian shirts and hula skirts. After dancing away everyone enjoyed burgers and tropical drinks. Other nights have included, movie night with a popular movie choice, pizza, ice-cream and popcorn and I’m a gateway celebrity get me out of here, this night included bush tucker trails (Guess what’s in the box, taste trail), bean chilli, and prizes.
